If you watched the post-game routine of most elite men's or women's ice hockey team, you'll be the players Riding a bike. Most elite male and female hockey players do their investment on the wheel in and outside of the season. But when it comes to training in the summer, when young players "train like professionals," in which the bike, or should they no longer run sprints?
In this season, compared to Off-Season
The theory is that cycling allows players to their well-conditioned "" skating "muscles and prevent excessive strain on the muscles that are not so much during the season. Although there is some truth, the theory based on the same muscles in the season, players must be on the training of opposing muscles during the off season, if they wish, their fitness, their flexibility and performance to the next level.
If players continue to train on the bike during the season, the "skating" muscles that are already tight from a long season, namely the quadriceps and hip flexor, will continue on in the off-season. This can lead to muscle imbalance which can lead to injury.
A player of the summer conditioning program should focus on activities such as running, which is a counterweight to the tightness in their "skating" muscles.
, By this summer, the players are the muscles in their hips, legs and shoulders, which they draw from their hunched-over posture hockey. The gluten and hamstrings are rarely used in its entirety in the skating step, but are crucial to the leg behind the body back into the current step. Strengthening these muscles leads to increased muscular balance and a higher overall system.
Just in the sprints
Since most players do not (and should not), at high intensities in the season, they must be careful not too hard to early in their training outside of the season. Players should start their training outside of the season to do low-intensity intervals and, finally, progress in high-intensity sprints. This development is their "skating" muscles loosen up as they re-state their running muscles.
Get off the bike this summer and start running.
